2ND - 4TH GRADE INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE

The 2nd-4th grade in-house instructional league and Friday night clinics will begin on November 11th. Stay tuned for more details. This league is open to 2nd-4th grade boys and girls and 4th and 5th graders that did not make a travel team.

ABOUT SAINT PATRICKS

Saint Patrick's Basketball is a member of the New York Arch-Diocese Catholic Youth Organization. We are in the Orange County CYO basketball league.  We have about 20 teams from St Pats playing each year in our instructional and County league.

Our program is provided to boys and girls in grades 2 thru 8. The instructional program is for 2nd,3rd and 4th grade. Our Friday Night Clinic and Sunday afternoon instructional league will teach the players all the fundamentals and rules of the game. We do make every attempt to achieve this while making it fun for the kids and our March Madness Final Day is a great way to end the season.

Our county league consists of  programs  from other parishes in Orange County such as St Francis of Newburgh, St Marys of Washingtonville, St Johns of Goshen, St Stephens of Warwick and some others. We will play in many tournaments throughout the Hudson Valley Area. These competitive teams are made up of 4th grade to 8th grade players. We ask our coaches to insure that all the players on the team play in at least 1/4 of the season games and be included in all practices. We strongly encourage good sportsmanship and the teaching of the game of basketball.

What we do?

We live in a competitive society and our teams compete in various CYO sports. Our mission, as stated previously, mentions several goals. We want our players to work hard, do their individual best , to work as a team and enjoy their CYO experiences. Every participant should have the same opportunity to improve his or hers skills, but in team sports "playing time" is commensurate with a player's skill level and experience. We should be competitive in CYO sports but "winning is everything" is not our policy. The goals of participation, team work and sportsmanship do not have to be at odds with winning or competition. Coaches, Parents and Players should all work together to achieve the "balance" needed to compete, do our best, improve skills, exhibit sportsmanship and let players enjoy their sports experiences. It's not easy, and some parishes may not have the same policy, but it's the "right thing" to do for our children.
